Hes been back with the Winnipeg Goldeyes for less than a month this season, but four-year Goldeye Chris Salamida has become the stopper of Winnipegs pitching rotation. Salamida allowed just two hits and posted his second complete-game shutout in as many starts Tuesday night, as the Goldeyes downed the St. Paul Saints 5-0 in Minnesota. While Winnipeg did its part to keep pace in the American Associations wild card race, the out-of-town scoreboard wasnt as kind. The wild card-leading Gary South Shore RailCats remain three games ahead of the Goldeyes after beating the Wichita Wingnuts 7-4 the first game of a doubleheader. The second game between Gary and Wichita is still going on. After Winnipeg grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Ray Sadler doubled in Ryan Scoma, Casey Haerther hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Kevin Moesquit doubled in Haerther in the seventh inning to increase Winnipegs lead to 4-0. The Goldeyes added on with three runs in the top of the ninth inning. Luis Alen hit a solo home run for his third dinger of the year, while Moesquit scored on a wild pitch and Amos Ramon tallied on a Fehlandt Lentini fielders choice. Haerther, Sadler and Tyler Graham led Winnipeg with a pair of hits each. In going the distance, Salamida has improved to 5-0 in six starts and became the first Goldeyes pitcher since Roger Luque in 2004 to have at least two complete-game shutouts in a season. Salamida has gone 16 scoreless innings. "He wants to pitch in the big games and he thrives in that moment," Goldeyes pitching coach Jamie Vermilyea said. "Thats why we were so eager to get him back." The Goldeyes and Saints continue this four-game series Wednesday night. Matt Rusch will take to the hill for Winnipeg against St. Pauls Dylan Thomas. Game time is 7 p.m. Meyers Leonard Heat Jersey . NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Green Bay Packers finally have an experienced traditional running back at their disposal with the return of James Starks.Starks was cleared to play Sunday at Tennessee for his first action since Oct. 9. He had surgery to repair a torn meniscus a week later after he experienced a problem during a workout. He was listed as questionable this week.Starks and the Packers never indicated which knee was injured.Without Starks and Eddie Lacy, who last played on Oct. 16 and then went on injured reserve, Packers coach Mike McCarthy has used a makeshift running game led by converted receiver Ty Montgomery with undrafted rookie Don Jackson sprinkled in.Jackson, however, was a healthy scratch against the Titans, which means the bulk of the work will fall on Starks and Montgomery.Starks was largely ineffective before his injury. He averaged juust 1.dddddddddddd8 yards per rush on 24 attempts before his knee injury, while Montgomery had two productive games as a runner (seven carries for 53 yards last week against the Colts and nine carries for 60 yards two weeks earlier against the Bears). The Packers did not get tight end Jared Cook?back; he, like Starks, returned to practice this past week. He hasnt played since Sept. 25, when he sprained his right ankle. As expected, linebacker Clay Matthews will miss his third straight game (and fourth overall this season) because of a hamstring injury. Other inactives were cornerback Damarious Randall (groin), center JC Tretter (knee), tackle Kyle Murphy (healthy scratch) and defensive tackle Christian Ringo (healthy scratch). ' ' '
