The increase in urban traffic congestion has become a serious concern to transportation professionals. NHAI has already started the construction and a Hyderabad based EPC (Engineering Cheap Derek Grant Shirt , Procurement, and Construction) contractor named KNR Construction Ltd is executing construction of 26.7 km stretch four-lane road from Kazhakuttam to Mukkola.


The commuters who are driving through the bypass from Kazhakuttam to Enchakkal and beyond can proceed through ROB and flyover. The commuters who are proceeding towards T-II terminal can exit from the four-lane flyover and take a right turn from the roundabout to be constructed in front of Kingsway Hotel and move via the 45-meter road to enter the ramp to reach the airport.


And the commuters who want to proceed to T-I terminal of the airport and beyond can exit through the Slip Road near the right side of the Chakka ROB and reach Chakka junction and proceed ahead. Those who want to proceed from Pettah side to Sanghumughom, Veli and other places can take the route beneath the flyover.


Thus the longest flyover project in the state capital aims to decongest the road leading to the Thiruvananthapuram international airport. This 1.6 km long and Rs 142 crore, project is being executed by the National Highway Authority of India.
