ESCALDES-ENGORDANY, Andorra -- Australia rugby coach Michel Cheikas move to call up his European-based World Cup stars for the Rugby Championship is a short-term solution to the problem of Australias player depth not being at the level it should be for Test rugby.Thats at least the view of England rugby coach Eddie Jones, the former Australia coach whose side humbled Cheikas Wallabies last month by winning the Test series held in Australia 3-0. Jones spoke to ESPN during his visit to the Tour de France on Sunday in which he followed stage nine in the Pyrenees, travelling in the Orica-BikeExchange team car.Jones said there is player depth in Australia. He also added that it was not the responsibility of Cheika, his former Randwick Rugby Club teammate, to develop the players adequately, but more so that of the Australian Super Rugby franchises. Possibly [developing that depth] hasnt been done as well as it should have. Im sure they are going to turn that around in the next 12 months. But when asked if he believes Australia has the playing chops to challenge for the series, especially against the world No. 1 New Zealand All Blacks, Jones said: It looks like they are going to bring [Will] Genia, [Matt] Giteau, [Adam] Ashley-Cooper and Drew Mitchell back [from France]. They will make a difference. The problem for Australia is that [it] is a short-term solution. They need to develop the players that played in the England tour. Im sure they will work very hard to develop those players, and Im sure that the short-term absence of these experienced players will be covered by the younger players coming through. After the June Test series, Jones remained in Australia for several days before returning to England. In that time, he caught up with the Randwick Rugby clubs players and officials -- and even with Randwick legend Jeff Sayle. He attended a club training session at Latham Park one night, near the home Galloping Greens ground, Coogee Oval. Its great to see my old club train, Jones said. They are playing with a lot of commitment [and are] well coached by Shannon Fraser. Its great to see them at the top of the Sydney premiership again. And while he would love to see the Wallabies win -- so long as its not against England -- when it comes to Randwick, Jones hopes that Randwick can return to its former heights are just as strong. You always love your country, he said. That hasnt changed, but as we saw with the Tour to Australia, I am 100 percent committed to England. And the only thing I want to see happen now is see England become the strongest team in the world. And we are quite capable of doing that. But Id love to see my old club Randwick do well. Nikola Jokic Nuggets Jersey . But what about the officials? Richmond football manager Neil Balme says the clubs hierarchy must develop a clear list management vision and be prepared to stick with it.But the dual premiership ruckman has warned that changes wont happen overnight as the club looks to improve its mediocre recent performance. One of the games most-respected administrators, Balme spent the past few years at Collingwood but was enticed back to the Tigers following a review of the clubs football department.Balme will commence his new role at Punt Road on Monday, but says he has held talks with coach Damien Hardwick, chief executive Brendon Gale and predecessor Dan Richardson, who will move into a talent management role.As much as were involved in footy and you watch everyone play, you really dont know ... where are all of these players at?, he told SEN radio on Friday.Who have you given up on, if any?
