North American esports organization Renegades, owned by Boston Celtics forward Jonas Jerebko, is expanding its esports holdings into Super Smash Bros. by acquiring Super Smash Bros. Melee player James Swedish Delight Liu and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player Samuel Dabuz Buzby. Both will begin competing under the Renegades banner Friday at one of the years largest tournaments, The Big House 6 in Dearborn, Michigan.Smash is a great community and is what esports is all about, Jerebko tells ESPN about his organizations expansion. Renegades would like to support gaming communities that have been here from the beginning. We are excited to have Sam and James join the family. The signings come after both players have had strong years while competing in tournaments in their respective games. In Melee, Swedish Delight, previously ranked 31st on the Melee It On Me Super Smash Bros. Melee annual ranking, has dramatically risen in tournament placements this year. In June, he took second to Juan Hungrybox Debiedma at Smash N Splash 2 in Gurnee, Illinois. But that wasnt his only top finish as he took fourth at Pound 2016, ninth at both Community Effort Orlando and Evolution 2016, and fifth at Shine 2016. Smash analyst Daniel TAFOkints Lee recently ranked Swedish Delight as 10th in his fall Melee power rankings.Im looking forward towards taking the next step in my career as a professional Smash player, Swedish Delight tells ESPN. Renegades has the best people in terms of experience, knowledge, and compassion I could work with to make me a better player. When I started playing, I never wouldve thought I would reach the level Im at right now. I cant wait to see what I can really achieve now that I have the full support of an organization as great as Renegades.Meanwhile, in Smash for Wii U, Dabuz has proven to be among the most consistent players in the game, currently holding third in the Panda Global Rankings. He took second at the years debut major, Genesis 3, only falling to Gonzalo ZeRo Barrios, who is considered the games best player. He then took ninth at Pound 2016, first at Apex 2016, first at WTFox 2, third at Community Effort Orlando 2016, seventh at Evolution 2016, and second at Super Smash Con 2016.Im really glad to be joining Renegades and its exciting to now be part of a great team, Dabuz tells ESPN. I have a lot of faith that Renegades will help me grow as a competitor and personality as I keep pursuing my dream to pursue being the best player I can be. I also am happy to representing a team with a lot of genuine people, and what really stood out to me is that the members and owners of Renegades have a clear passion in esports and want to be at the forefront of its growth. In August, Jerebko, former Team Liquid Counter-Strike head coach James Jame^s OConnor, and an ownership group purchased the Renegades brand from League of Legends shoutcaster Christopher MonteCristo Mykles and Chris Badawi. Since acquiring the team, Jerebko and crew re-signed Renegades Australian Counter-Strike squad and picked up the former Dream Team Call of Duty team. Smash marks their third esport as a team since the acquisition and rebrand. Danny Ciprianis Wasps return ended in victorious fashion at the Ricoh Arena after Exeter lost a healthy lead to suffer a 25-20 opening weekend defeat.England international fly-half Cipriani, who made his first Premiership appearance for Wasps since May 2010 after rejoining them from Sale Sharks, had a solid, rather than spectacular afternoon, as Wasps fought back from 12 points adrift early in the second period.Centre Jimmy Gopperth, scrum-half Dan Robson and hooker Tommy Taylor all scored tries for Wasps, while Gopperth added two conversions and two penalties for a 15-point haul to thwart the Chiefs -- last seasons Aviva Premiership runners-up.Exeter bossed the opening 50 minutes, taking charge through touchdowns from number eight Thomas Waldrom and scrum-half Will Chudley, with fly-half Henry Slade kicking 10 points, but they were undone by Wasps strong final quarter display.Cipriani and his former Sale teammate Taylor both started following their summer moves, with two more Wasps newcomers -- prop Marty Moore and lock Matt Symons -- on bench duty. Exeter boss Rob Baxter handed a debut to former Bath centre Ollie Devoto, who partnered Sam Hill in midfield. And it took the Chiefs just four minutes to open their account, as they delivered a trademark try from a driven lineout for Waldrom, who scored three tries when Exeter crushed Wasps 41-27 on their last Premiership visit to Coventry nine months ago.Slade added the conversion, but Cipriani showed some promising early touches for Wasps, almost creating an opportunity for wing Christian Wade following a clever kick into space, before a Slade penalty took Exeter 10 points clear.Wasps could not establish any consistent foothold inside Exeters 22, and the Chiefs went cclose to extending their advantage through an impressive Olly Woodburn break, but he could not get the final pass away that would undoubtedly have created a try.ddddddddddddhe home side, though, moved up a gear as half-time approached after Gopperth had opened their account with a penalty.Devoto rightly avoided any punishment from referee Tom Foley after his boot accidentally went close to Ciprianis head in a ruck, and Wasps then conjured a superb score when livewire number nine Robson capitalised on flanker Guy Thompsons midfield surge to send Gopperth sprinting over in the corner. But Exeter fought back immediately, ending the opening 40 minutes by reasserting control as Chudley and Hill linked impressively before Chudley skipped outside Wasps last defender and claimed a try that Slade converted for a 17-8 interval advantage.Another Slade penalty put Exeter 12 points ahead, yet Wasps replied in style through some slick handling that freed Wade from just inside his own half, and he found Robson on a supporting inside run, with the scrum-half enjoying a 30-metre unopposed run to the line.Gopperths conversion narrowed the gap to 20-15, and Wasps impressive momentum saw them score another try 14 minutes from time, on this occasion after their forwards blasted open Exeters defence and Taylor touched down following an impressive show of power.Another Gopperth conversion put Wasps ahead for the first time, before Slade sent an angled penalty chance narrowly wide with eight minutes left, and that proved to be Exeters last scoring chance as Gopperth sealed the deal through a long-range penalty.
