CLEVELAND -- Prodding her party, Caitlyn Jenner said Wednesday it was easier to come out as transgender than as a Republican and conceded Democrats promote more inclusive policies.Jenner, the Olympic gold medalist and transgender activist, gently chastised Republicans as she spoke at a brunch on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention. She told the pro-LGBT American Unity Fund that shes urged Republicans including Donald Trump to create a safe environment for children who are transgender.I get it. The Democratic Party does a better job when it comes to the LGBT community, the trans community, all that kind of stuff, Jenner said.In an unusual moment for a GOP gathering, she received a smattering of applause when she praised President Barack Obama for advancing LGBT rights and for eliminating the ban on transgender people serving openly in the military.Jenners appearance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, just blocks from where Republicans are holding their convention to nominate Trump, illustrated the divisions within the party as it works to expand its appeal to LGBT voters and their supporters in the general election. Though Trump has been more supportive of gay rights than most of his White House challengers, there have been few public calls for more inclusivity during the four-day gathering in Cleveland.Earlier this year, Trump drew attention for saying that Jenner could use whatever restroom she wanted in one of his luxury buildings, a position that came as Republicans in several states were pushing laws forcing people to use the restroom that corresponds to their gender at birth. Jenner later took up Trump on his offer, using the womens room without incident at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Manhattan.Youre creating laws for a non-issue, Jenner said. We dont have a problem here. Its a position at odds with the GOP platform, adopted at the convention on Monday, which preserves language that criticizes the Obama administration for directing schools to allow transgender students to use restrooms matching their gender identity. Montel Williams, the TV host, called that part of the platform inexcusably hostile to the LGBT community. We think weve made so much progress and were right back where we started, said Williams, who is black. If you remember, just because of the color of my skin, there were bathrooms I couldnt go in, water fountains I couldnt drink from.Jenner said the bathroom issue had been used politically for many, many, many, many years. She added that shed personally experienced no issues with which bathroom to use.I havent used the mens room in a year and a half, said Jenner, who transitioned to her new identity from Bruce Jenner last year. And thank God, because there are some great conversations going on in the ladys room, OK?Opponents have warned that men would use it as an excuse to enter womens rooms to prey on girls. Jenner noted that Former Idaho Sen. Larry Craig, former Mississippi Rep. Jon Hinson and former Florida state Rep. Bob Allen -- all Republicans -- had been arrested for lewd behavior in mens restrooms, during a time in which no transgender people were arrested for using the wrong bathroom.Maybe what we should do is ban Republican representatives at a state level from being in the mens room, Jenner said.---Reach Josh Lederman on Twitter at http://twitter.com/joshledermanAPNike Vapormax Sale . GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Missouris last visit to Florida Field was a debacle for the home team. The Tigers returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and then really blew the game open in the third quarter by scoring on a punt return, a fumble return and an interception return. The 18th-ranked Gators (4-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) havent forgotten, and they plan to use it as motivation when the Tigers (3-2, 0-2) return to Gainesville on Saturday. That was just embarrassing how we came out, Florida cornerback Jalen Tabor said. Man, homecoming. They returned the opening kickoff. They had four non-offensive touchdowns. Sheesh, thats tough. The 42-13 drubbing ranks among Floridas worst home losses in school history. Mizzou had just seven first downs and 119 yards of offense, including 20 passing, and essentially sat back and watched the Gators self-destruct every way imaginable.Senior linebacker Jarrad Davis reminded teammates this week how humbling that 2014 homecoming game was.If thats what it takes for them to get excited, Florida coach Jim McElwain said. I dont know, maybe they put it on their locker room wall or something. Maybe thatll be good. The Gators are coming off an unexpected bye week caused by Hurricane Matthew. The SEC postponed Floridas home game against LSU because of the threatening storm and eventually rescheduled it for Nov. 19 in Baton Rouge.Missouri also had a week off after losing 42-7 at LSU , a disconcerting setback in which the offense totaled just 265 yards and the defense missed two dozen tackles and gave up 418 yards rushing.I think it was a wake-up call for us, Mizzou receiver Chris Black said.Florida, which has managed 20 points and 338 yards in its last six quarters, expects an offensive boost with the return of quarterback Luke Del Rio. Del Rio missed the last two games with a sprained left knee.Im looking for, obviously, improvement in all phases, McElwain said. But more than that, Im looking for improvement with guys not just trying to do their job and stopping, but actually doing their jobb and finishing.dddddddddddd Thats really what Im looking for this week.---Here are some other things to know about Missouri and Florida heading into their sixth meeting:GETTING HEALTHY: The Gators used to week off to get a little healthier on both lines. Defensive tackle Caleb Brantley (finger) and left tackle David Sharpe (shoulder) should be good to go against the Tigers. Defensive linemen Joey Ivie (thumb) and Jordan Sherit (leg) remain sidelined.INFLATED NUMBERS: Missouri quarterback Drew Lock leads the SEC in passing, averaging 335 yards a game. The sophomore has thrown for 1,675 yards, with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions. But 10 of his TD passes came in lopsided wins against Eastern Michigan and Delaware State.FOUR-HEADED MONSTER: It will be interesting to see if Florida sticks with its four-man running back rotation against the Tigers. Leading rusher Jordan Scarlett looked like the best of the bunch against Vanderbilt, running for 55 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, but the Gators continued to get Mark Thompson, Jordan Cronkrite and Lamical Perine touches.HARRIS WATCH: Florida wants to know exactly where Missouri defensive end Charles Harris is before every snap. Although Harris had a slow start to the season while adjusting to a new defensive scheme, the junior is one of the best players in the league. He has 19 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks, modest numbers for a guy widely considered a first-round draft pick in 2017.TITLE TEAM IN TOWN: The Gators will honor their 2006 national championship team Saturday, welcoming many of the players back to recognize the 10-year anniversary of the programs second national title. Retired coach Steve Spurrier, who led Florida to its first title two decades ago, spoke to the current team Thursday about the importance of homecoming. Florida is a meager 3-3 in its last six homecoming games.---AP college football website: www.collegefootball.ap.org ' ' '
